Meet Dahlia, my 2012 ZX-10R

Hello guys!

I'm a veteran member over on zx6r.com (or used to be) and recently came over to the dark side. I fell in love with the redesign in 2011 and finally pulled the trigger on one. I just picked her up last Friday and, with only 900 miles on her, she is essentially a new bike. No current modifications (and no pressing need for go-fast bits; She is incredibly fast as she sits) aside from stompgrips that came with her. I do plan on putting on some new levers and seeing about getting some of the white plastics from 2013 (I like the white and black look but would rather not change out or paint the tank).

I will add a few pics from the dealership below (will take more soon) but also, my first question. Do both ABS and non-ABS models have the rotor speed sensors? I only ask because ABS was never a deciding factor for me and I thought I was buying a non-ABS model. However, when looking it over at the dealer, I say the speed sensors. I didn't mention anything as it wasn't important to my buying decision but I am interested. Is it used for the traction control system or is this, in fact, an ABS model?

Also, one last sidenote. I DO ride with boots. I'm grabbing a new pair of Sidi Mag-1 boots as soon as I get the chance. That being said, I AM wearing skate shoes in the pic. Sue me.

Cheers mates

Welcome to the party!

The blue rim stripes are unique with the black. Looks good! Enjoy your stay here on the best forum on the net!

I may not be perfect, but at least I don't ride a Suzuki.

Thanks! :) I plan on switching out the rim tape to white once I can afford the fairing swap. Any insight on my ABS vs non-ABS question?

Thanks! I assume this is in regards to the white '13 plastics? If so, awesome! I priced them out from a parts retailer and for just the white sections (re-using my black sections as needed) I was looking at over $1100

Yeah the sensor rings are for the traction control primarily. ABS uses them as well since they are already there. The ABS model has stickers on the front fender and the rear brake line goes forward into the fairing to the ABS module before going back out to the caliper.

Didn't read all of your intro post lol, but forget the white fairings. No sense spending the coin on that. The bike looks great and it will grow on you. If anything, see if anyone is willing to do a fairing swap

I can't say I disagree. I'd faster plasti-dip () than spend $1100. A fairing swap would be ideal but, I assume, impossible to find.
