Talking hi- what would you guys buy?

hey been lurking a bit, you guys seem to be on your game. Love the thread about suspension setup, wow.

i'm picking up a 10r after messing around with other bikes for years, i want the really stupid HP to feed the demon. plus I loved my old 6r, i can't imagine something with half again the power and lighter too. Sucker's ram air worked for sure, apparently it does on the 10r too.

been riding since i was 8, then hit the street with-
a borrowed hurricane
a kawi 440
a duc mon 750
a kawi 6r
a TL1000r
a klr
a wee strom
a sv650

I had the TLR for the longest, I thought I'd had enough power but every time I see a 10r i got the itch. so, 2 choices for me-

an 05, babied by a single owner with 12k mi for $5k
an 06 from a good dealer with 5400mi for $7.3k

both have slip on akras so that's a wash. my only concern is that the 05 wasn't broken in right and weirdness may ensue when I start getting up towards redline on a regular basis. and i'll check for cracks on the 05, stick a damper on it if i buy it.

whadya think?

Probably get a variety of answers but I am assuming you do not live in the US as prices seem a bit high.
I would go for the 05 personally.

Welcome and 05' all the way all though the 2nd gen's are nice too......best of luck with whichever one you end up getting..they're both monsters but i tend to lean more towards the 1st gen's for some strange reason....

Personal view is that I would NEVER put down my '05 for a '06!

I could give a thaught only if it was a '09 or 2010....

In other words, to answer your question:

05 FOR EVER!!!

I would try to get the 1st gen down a bit in price and buy that. I also wouldn't trade my 1st gen for a 2nd. Only thing IMO they made better was the gauges. i have rode both and wasn't impressed. Now if you can fid a 3rd gen for cheap jump on it!

Definitely pass on the 2nd gen at that price. Where are you located? We have a few members selling their 1st and 2nd gens for cheap.

Way high.....thats more so 3rd gen pricing. The pricing on the '05 is still a tad high, I know a guy with the same bike/miles trying to get $5k and its a no go. I also know a guy with an '04 with 3000mi looking for $4.5k As far as which gen to buy, you cant go wrong with either.
