Talking hello and which would you guys buy?

hey been lurking a bit, you guys seem to be on your game. I love the thread about suspension setup, wow.

i'm picking up a 10r shortly here-I loved my old 6r, i can't imagine something with half again+ the power and lighter too. Sucker's ram air worked for sure, apparently it does on the 10r too.

been riding since i was 8, then hit the street with-
a borrowed hurricane
a kawi 440
a duc mon 750
a kawi 6r
a TL1000r
a klr
a wee strom
a sv650

I had the TLR for the longest, I thought I'd had enough of power but every time I see a 10r i got the itch. so, 2 choices for me-

an 05, babied by a single owner with 12k mi for $5k
an 06 from a good dealer with 5400mi for $7.3k

both have slip on akras so that's a wash. my only concern is that the 05 wasn't broken in right and weirdness may ensue when I start getting up towards redline on a regular basis. and i'll check for cracks on the 05, stick a damper on it if i buy it.

whadya think?

I'd go with the 05' without a doubt...now if the other option was the 3rd gen then it would be a tuff call BUT between the 1st and 2nd gen........the 04-05 is a beast and better bike..hands down.... best of luck and enjoy whichever one you get bud, that's the main thing.

^^ Not sur if I agree the 04-05 is a better bike hands down but it has different characteristics!! That being said I own a gen2 but looking at them prices Id go with the 05! LooK around in the for sale section here though, you might find something better! I know Elb Racing is selling his 05 for 4800 with less miles and I know he took care of his!! Love the gen 1 though, nothing bad to say but I love the gen 2 just as much!! Good luck man

I must agree though.........I do like the look of the 2nd gen's and i've never ridden one but i know it's no slouch by any means. i just can't get over the undertail exhaust thing...i like it and then i don't..that's the only thing that i dislike about them....they're like a refined version of the 1st gen.

how do you know the 06 at the dealer was properly broke in. A used bike is a crap shoot anyway you cut it!

Welcome to the forum. I have an 04 with close to 12k on the clock and its as good as new. I wouldnt have a problem with either bike. Just know that the 1st gen are much more raw and the 2cnd gen is a more refined ride. Your preference really. They both are great bikes.
