first ZX10

Hi - I'm David and I'm a motorcycle fanatic. I'm 64 yo and have been riding actively (year round) since the age of 16.

I've had a ton of bikes but not that many liter/supersport variety. In fact a 1098S was the closest I came. An amazingly wonderful bike but not the first thing that comes to mind when you think liter bike, no?

So, my new love -,and yes, this is a bike to love!) a a burnt orange 2009 ZX10R, to which I'm farkled thusly: removed decals and reflectors; removed right passenger peg support mount; removed tail assembly, and 1 tooth from the front sprocket.
Added Kawasaki higher screen; TPX radar detector mount and visual alert, Gerbing harness for heated clothing, Helibars, PCV, K&N air filter; Acropovic CF muffler and mid pipe (getting rid of the "junk"), one tooth less stock front sprocket; Corbin saddle (Love this one), ZX10 burnt orange rear cowl, rear tail tidy, and crash bungs.

I'll post a photo as soon as I can.

I could go on all day about this bike and hopefully this forum will facilitate that!

David

Thank you for the welcome.

Well, when the photo shoot happens you will see that my
ZX10 is a member of an all Kawi garage. The other two are as cool in their own way - a brand new Connie and a ZX14.

Best bikes I've ever owned. The list of things to complain about is quite small. One of the coolest things about new Kawi's is that the list of "must do" changes is about as small as anything going save perhaps a pure custom.

D.

Haven't forgotten about the photos but had the bad judgment to herniate disc L4-5 in my weightlifting sport (kettlebell or Russian - girevoy sport) and needed surgery as the pain was getting much worse and was losing muscle function in my right leg. Off all the opiates now and feeling great so like I said - photos coming. Got a Corbin saddle for the 14 as well as a rear hugger, tail tidy, Muzzy SS can and mid pipe, PC, larger Kawi screen (a beautiful item made in Germany!), and a RKA tank and seat bag should I wish to visit someone on the opposite coast :). The Connie got a Muzzy CF can and a Sargent saddle. Other than Tech Spec tank grips which I have on all my bikes what the heck else are you going to put on a Connie? Oh, a Fenda Extenda LOL.

Ride safe,
David

I forgot - there is one thing that I don't like about the 10. It is so damn good that it's making me lazy in choosing lines etc. Run it wide - who cares, enter too fast - who cares, it's a bike that makes you a better rider than you think you are! I have enuff' miles on it now that I'm opening it up a bit (9-10 grand) and it is just insanely fast. Of course I'm preaching to the choir. You guys/gals know that already. I'm just learning. :)

Looking forward to the pictures.

I certainly understand the pain associated with herniated discs. I have two (2) herniated in my meck and five (5) more bulging discs in the neck. Sadly, up here in Canada I'm apparently too young for surgery.

Either way, it is always a treat to get back on the ride one the good days!
