You chose wisely.
Kawi, still state-of-the-art until proven otherwise, still the most power, lightest weight, yes, but most important, very good handling, few if any bugs, very comfortable for all-day rides yet works great on the track.
The GSX-R would be a really good choice if you never planned on doing track days and really needed to save the $$$, it's smooth, comfortable, and handles well as a street bike. But the brakes are not too well set up, so you need for sure to do the stainless steel lines, pads, and a super-bleeding session.
Kawi's brakes are excellent; I am borderline on doing the s/s lines every ride, I just can't justify it yet. One finger. But I'm 141 pounds, maybe a heavier rider would want to go ahead and do it. I would if I was using it for track days but I'm not.
The main thing is you get the electronics which are really well-sorted.
