Spoiler Tags

hey guys,

after a discussion with Bloo today in the racing sub-forum i have a couple of suggestions to help out with the spoiler issue.

i have seen this on other forums i am a part of. it is basically like the (QUOTE)(QUOTE) tags that you wrap around a piece of text, except it is for spoilers.

say i had some super sensitive racing results. instead of just going into a thread and typing out:
"Wow, super cool race today! Valentino Biaggi just beat everyone in the World-Moto-Super-Bike race to win the Universal Championship!"

you get people to wrap it in spoiler tags like this:
Spoiler!

what these tags do is actually hide the text, so that only a reader that intentionally clicks on the spoiler will be able to read it. everyone else can go about their business without having the race spoiled.

anyway, thought it might be worth a mention.
it looks like so:

so, you guys must have had a chance to look into this by now.

do you think it is a worthwhile idea, or not really worth looking at? i would be interested to know your thoughts.

i've found this to be VERY useful elsewhere, and keeps everyone happy. those who want to chat about results can, and those who have to wait for the race can remain oblivious.

i think this would be a useful forum addition given the excitement i anticipate across all levels of racing next year.

thanks mate! good to see the change, i really think this will be useful, especially when our boys at Kawi racing start to get some good results this year!

strange about your email address being banned on perthstreetbikes.com ?! i assume you have never been a member before?

it a pretty good forum, with about 18,000 members. that is pretty good for a small city web-forum!

YSR has already updated his Spoiler Race Results Sticky and will put out an Announcement when the Race Season get near..........but lets not stop there the Spoiler Tag can be used for many things like a Football game in progress and for those behind with the DVR use the spoiler tag in the thread....things like that.... I just hope most start using it and if not I will point it out here and there it's available for certain type of threads.

absolutely mate.

it can be used for all sorts of things; all kinds of sports, movies/tv shows, etc.
basically anything that might ruin someone's enjoyment of an event.

of course as you say, it is all well and good that we have these tricky kind of things, but if people don't use them considerately then they are worthless.
