winterize tips

was just hoping to get some feedback from you guys about tips/techniques for putting the bike to sleep for the winter. I know alot of you dont have to worry about this....fuggers....but for those that do this is the first bike where i actually care about doin it right so i figured this would be my best bet....

this is what i know of so far
1 looking into gettin front and rear stands
2 changing the oil
3 putting the battery on a tender

not sure about these issues
1 what about fuel?? should the tank be run out?? stabilizer??
2 should anything be lubricated/coated??
3 other fluids??

any help would be greatly appreciated!!

andrew

full ahead hard and fast....

Good list. I do all of the above plus put stabilizer in the fuel, oil the chain real good, clean the bike very well, put it on stands and wait.......Then when winter is over change the oil again and check over the bike and there yah go.

your list is pretty complete. just add some stabil to the tank and run it around the blaock for a few. that way the stabil is everywhere it needs to be.

you are good to go if you follow your list.

Fill the tank to the brim.. This elminates the condensation of the water in the fuel.

Sounds good...I'm doing the same in a couple weeks..

Clean oil & filter for the winter
Fuel stabilizer and fill to the brim
clean the chain, then re-lube heavily
Heavy duty cleaning/waxing/sealing, etc
Put battery on the bench and charge monthly or so
Wait til spring

I didn't do anything to my bike last winter and it fired up and rode without a hiccup.

I live my life a quarter-pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, im free. I need FRIESSSS! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didnt blow a seam on your nugget box.
