TRE unit acting weird!!!!

I purchased a TRE unit from checkerd flag motorsports via Ebay from the states, after installing the unit, somedays the bike would start up ok and run ok, other days it would start up ok, but as the rpm got to 4500 the bike would hesitate and felt as if it was missfiring. Applying more throttle, the rpm would increase then the bike would lurch forward uncontrollably just as if id held the throttle wide open. 1st and 2nd gear is even more hairy!!!
I then had to stop, switch off and restart the bike, sometimes it didnt clear it so i had to stop serveral times. I sent the unit back and checkerd flag motorsports sent me another, but this one does the same, but not as bad. I followed the installation correctly, sub throttle sensor all the way forward, connect the two wire etc.....i must admit when the bike is doing this, i goes really well, 190 on the clock.....

any ideas???

or do i risk blowing it up

Im going to invest in a power commander so i may take it off.

standard ZX10R with a Akra road legal end can.....

Cheers

Kev

Try taking it out and returning the sensor to its original position. Hopefully it returns to normal. Just out of curiousity, what were you looking to achieve/improve with the TRE?

yea thats what I always wonder too. I mean you would need alot more power to go anything over 190 anyhow..
it takes about 200 horse at the wheel to go 200 mph.

05 lime green. Sato slip-on, pc3usb, bmc race filter.

I was told the TRE made the bike more useable in the lower rpm range, when i first rode a zx10 i noticed the jerkiness of the bike while riding slow, a bit like and on/off switch. The TRE unit does make it better.....i`ll carry on with it a bit longer, and wait till ive saved for a power commander...

hear hear I've dealt with chequered flag mortsports and I consider him to be a lying two faced SOB who I wouldn't piss on if he was on fire, check out his feedback on ebay. I think you must have been one of the lucky ones who A)got the right part B)actually got some aftersales service.all I'll say is I can thank my lucky stars there are suppliers like Ivan.mind you think my TRE might be playing up too similar problem but only on part throttle.

Oh i must admit chicozx10 i didnt read his feed back, but i emailed him and asked him to send me another and once id swopped it, i would send the faulty one back. Arrived in 5 days of me asking. Having said that i was speaking to another guy who had a TRE unit and the one he had, he had to cut 2 wires and tape them up!!.....i told him about mine and he said that he didnt know of one that you didnt have to cut the wires!

yea the other one is 5475anna it's a bit of wire with a resistor soldered in between. I bought one and threw it in the bin, mind you it's not miss described just no photo, I bought the other cos I was lead to belive it was one of ivans well it aint. I had a similar problem this morning, I'd put the E marked baffle in my end can this morning so's not to wake up my neighbours (went out at 6am) and on the way back stopped at home for 2 mins started up for a quick blast and it started to mess around in a similar manner pulled up took out the baffle and had no more problems, infact it was a rocket ship.I'm going to keep an eye on it see what happens,I would like to keep the TRE as it does seem to smooth out the trottle response and I find the bike much more willing to rev altho it is more eager to spin up comming out of roundabouts, should make life more interesting. I've also got a QA throttle on it at the mo on it's middle cam might put the smaller one on for the road and keep the middle one for trackdays.Used a tank of gas in 75 miles this morning nasty shock that used to get 120 from brim full, thats track day mpg, the roads were clear this morning hardly a car insight just a bit slippery so took the bike along the marshes and for a top speed run to Ashford (SE England)

chicozx10 mate, are you saying your bike did more mpg before you put on the TRE unit?......i put mine on 3 days after i got the bike (only coz it was raining and i didnt want to get it wet!) so i never really got chance to check the mpg......

i get on average 80-96 miles to a full tank, i dont hang about, but not really crazy, worst was about 75 miles to the tank, that was a mad ride round lincolnshire

My tre from ivan did the same thing at 7000 rpm acted like it was flooding but cleared up after 8000 rpm so I got a pc3 and it wouldnt get over 4000 rpm I moved the tps back to the stock setting(good thing for factory marking) and it runs great.
