Thin Head Gasket for Street

Greetings,
I purchased the thinner head gasket for my 07 ZX10R but before I install it I had a question. I use this bike for both racing and riding back and forth to work and weekend trips. I know I will get more hp by installing the thinner gasket but will I have issues with using it for everyday use?

not at all. I'm running the thin gasket and I have my head decked .015" so I'm in the area of 14.2:1 compression on pump 93 gas. you will be fine

Hi Garth

A question, i read that you lowwerd the head by the gaskit right and also milled the head down right. Nice compresion to 14.2 : 1 a very well done job, but do you have issue on water temp.

Here our weather is a hot one around 30 Deg up and in hot days goes till 40 + Deg Celsius sometimes.

What you think if I had to that on an 09 model ?

regards Jo

I have a thin on my 04, and intake kit cam. I had them both put in at the same time, more engine noise but better top end at the track.(like I needed it)

It's crazy that bikes can run such high compression on pump gas, 14.2:1 is unheard of for a pump-gas car motor. What allows the compression? Do the cams bleed off a lot of the compression down low?

temps are slightly higher, but I actually dont even have a radiator fan on my bike until near summer time. The temps have slightly risen in the bike but not by much at all lmaybe 10 degrees at most and im just running regular 50/50 coolant

The way it's been explained to me is because of the relatively small bore size of engines like ours. Also, our engines aren't moving a ton or two like 4-wheeled vehicles so they don't have the same kind of load on them.

Maybe the short stroke rather than the smaller bore? I could definitely agree with you about the load though.
