Removal of Secondary Butterflies ??

Is it worth it on the 06/07 ZX-10's ? How much horspower and torque does this mod yield and is it still streetable and how is the drivability on them when this mod is done ????

Thought about doing it , but without flowbenching everything you couldnt tell weather it works or not, I believe Garth has gone the whole hog and removed the complete system, but he has a billion other mods done too.

Its purpose is for more controlled flow at lighter throttle openings and aids power application, so if you remove it then obviously the bike wouldnt be as street friendly.

It will require remapping, before you know whether or not you will like it.

Well I cannot tell all about removing them on the 06-07's I recently did a 06 10 with full acro, pc3, bmc, short stacks, kawi race cam, thin head gasket, and removed the secondaries, we saw great power from it, it made rigth around 180 hp so i know its worth it.

I did do a before and after dyno run not even mapping it and it gained peak hp right at the end of the power band. heres the runs.

before

after

this was done back to back as well pretty much.

as for streetability its jsut as normal, the zx14s gain a TON of hp removing them cause they are restricted and we gain 26ft lbs at 3k rpm.

those 2 graphs look very much the same from bottom to top if not identical and for info purposes the full Akra, PC3, head gasket & cam is where the increase in perf came from if it truely did make a peak 180HP.

the peak horse power came form removing the secondaries. all mods were done before and after on same dyno and same bike same mods.

my bike had yosh FS, BMC, modded stacks, PCIII, thin head gasket, and intake race.

the 06 has very similar mods and made jsut about the same horsepower.

point is IF removing the secondaries did anything at all it was near or @ peak...mmmmmmm some 12k+ which truely isn't much good at all for a street ridden bike thats a DD and may only see those RPM's very infrequent.

yeah, the 10r's dont see much of a big difference but looking to squeeze every bit of power out of a 10 its an easy mod and doesn't mess up your fueling bad. I wish i could have done a before and after of removing the rods but i removed my whole secondary system completely.

Deezhul removed his whole system as well and his bike is the fastest 10r to goto maxton.

its a good mod for drag racing because the bike is going to be at 100% all the time, most flow possible is always a good thing
