Performance Mods

Being a newb figured this would be the correct place to post this? I have done some research on the site so I hope that this question may have a somewhat simple answer? I have an 06 10R which I understand has some form of performance restriction in the first two gears? I was hoping that it might be like the Yamaha dirt bikes where you just cut the grey wire. Evidently this isn't the case after reading some of the posts. I'm just wondering if someone could clarify this? I can't see the logic in putting all the pipes and power commanders on a restricted engine. I really have no interest in going over the federally mandated top speed, I just would like to see what the bike will do without the restriction. Hopefully someone can straighten me out, Thanks Carl.

I have a response ........Aaaaaaaa What!!!!!!!?

Yes ZX10Rs are resticted in the first gears, for example the ZX10R can only do just over a 100mph in first gear.

I reallize that the bike will do over 100 in first gear. My question was reagrding what appears to be different ignition maps associated with certain gears. Apparently there is a way that you can bypass this circuit so that the bike thinks it's in 5th or nutrual. Suppose I deserved that reply.

Look into an Ivans or GIPRO TRE for your 10

You'll need a TRE.

Well when you put it that way then yes there is...It's called a TRE(Timing Retard Eliminator). The Ivans TRE will fool it to use the nuetral map from the ECU and there is a GiPro Indicator but not figured out yet what gear it fools the ECU to be in for maps, but most likely the same for 1 of the settings but you get 2 or 3 choices with that unit.

Thanks for the information really appreciate the help. Suppose that I can find these by searching on the internet? Will wait until the warranty goes before installing. I'm reasonably mechanically inclined but not real hot on electrical items. Is this something that can be installed fairly easily?
