I installed a PCIII on my ZX-6R and since the bike doesn't want to start right away. For some reason, it hesitates for about 5 seconds and then the rpm's pick up and the bike runs like normal. I've already reset the throttle position sensor to 0% and that didn't change a thing. I've even contacted the company and they couldn't point me in any direction. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem. I know this question isn't about my 10r (it runs perfectly), but any help would be appreciated.
By the way, I have an Akrapovic slip on and the map that I used was for a micron slip on (per the manufacter's suggestion on their web site). Thanks for any help.

Check your connections. Usually problems with a PCIII after a recent install come down to a bad ground or a connector that isn't properly seated. If those all check out, call DJ again and get an RMA to exchange for a non-defective unit.

One other problem I've seen with the 10R is that people will sometimes connect to the wrong connector, as there are two that are similar. Double-check against the instructions to verify the proper connections. The brown FI connector to the starboard side of the bike is the one that seems to get missed.

I would do the following...

Unhook the connectors from the PCIII but dont remove it and try to start the bike up and see if it starts fine.

If it does then hook the PCIII back up and load a "0" map into it and make sure the throttle position is set right, check and double check the connectors to make sure they are the right ones and are connected completely.

If the bike still dos the same thing then do like was said and get the RMA from DJ and send it back as you ahve a defective unit and dont let the chick in the RMA dept tell you anything otherwise.

My very first one was bad right out of the box, bike would start at first but would cut out and spit and sputter. CAlled them and she argues with me for 30 mins. Finally get her to issue the RMA and was mad as I had spent like $30 extra on next day shipping to get in time for a weekend ride. It was pulling tooth and nails to get them to take it back, fix it, admit I was right and it was defective, and for them to ship it back to me next day air for all of the trouble.

Turned out mine had an internal cross short in it, done during the manufacturing process. My dealer said you would not believe the amount of defective PCIII they get all of the time.

Good luck with it...

Thanks guys for all of the feedback. As you probably know I've just recently joined this forum. I have to say though, from all the others that I've visited, this one is by far the most constructive and supportive. I'll give your ideas a try and let you know how it turned out. Thanks again!
