new guy, need input

Okay, newbie here, I have an '04 , stock except for a Micron can.

I know I need a Power Commander. Probably full exhaust. Is there emissions crap that needs tossing?

Since my zrx is a 5 speed, & this rascal has 4 more gears after (pretty legal) hiway speed, is there a gear indicator that might hook up fairly easy?

Throw out what you fellows consider mods of importance.

Thanks.

read the sticky note in the zx-10r section... that'll help you out some... and as far as i know if you have a slip on, you dont NEED a power commander, and you dont NEED a full exhaust unless you're just power hungry and plan to do some track time or just want it....

you can run a slip on with no power commander but i reccomend it, theres alot more to do than jsut max power with tuning such as your mpg, i was gettin 97 miles on the dot the fuel light would come on, when i tune it for economy it gets near 150 till the light comes on, its a biggg difference...also the motor doesn'n stay loaded up.

as fo rother mods mabey go one down in the front sprocket for quicker acceleration if your lookin for some more "power"

if you want real power of course a full system and aftermerket filter is going to help.

good luck

I picked up a -1 front before I left the shop. Didnt put it on yet. Just easing into the feel of it but I know I will want more snap as soon as I'm more comfortable/accustomed to it.

Only took the first ride tonite, 60 miles, but I think this will be a fun bike.

Welcome, Logmaster.

I'm a bit of a newbie myself, joined ZX-10R.net a few months ago. Like you, I have a ZRX. Love it. I decided to use a Kawasaki engine in my race car project to stay in the family. I'm looking forward to the extra gear and high, free revving RPMs. For simplicity and reliability, I will start out with a stock engine, but I'm paying close attention to Power Commander and other mods because I know I'll be using them soon afterwards.

BTW, I'm using a 20T front sprocket, but my application is a little different compared to most. :-).
