Question New exhaust

I just installed a yosh on my bike. I did not use a gasket. How important are they? Do I really need one?

As in header gasket? If that is the case then yes I would think it is important to stop the leaks. I've never blown motorcycle header gaskets, but I have blown the ones I used to use on my mustang. You get a really annoying ticking sound. I just got my new full system put on and I had them change out the gasket for a new 1
