I dont think you can set up the suspension without changing your spring rate. Most litter bikes come with spring rates for riders under 200lbs. There are a lot of posts on this, do a little search and good luck.
Yeah, this is something that Im going to try to get done when weather gets warm. Im going to use the suggested settings from sport rider magazine. I am about 200 lbs. I know that the stock settings are way to soft for me. Hopefully bike will come alive when I get sag set and adjust suspension a bit.
Actually on the 06-07 10R the front springs are actually quite stiff. I am not sure it will be stiff enough for a 270lb person but I am just over 200lb with all my gear and managed to get my preload set up without running out of adjustment.
