My top speed with gearing..

so..... i went with 16/40 and put on yellow box, with the recommended correction of 13% with a new back tire(pilot power) and went and raced my buddys R1.
Shift light glowing (set at redline in 6th) i pulled 149 or so.
this is ridiculas. stock gearing is going back on.
Also, i usually pull him just abit or were dead even, this time starting towards the top of 2nd gear he pulled me a couple lengths then stayed there ifront of me.
so much for gearin..
anyone elses experiences with this? this gearing is retarded unless you live in the city and only drive stoplight to stoplight.

mmmmmmmmmm somethin is amiss here catfish! first off 16/40 will easily pull 160+ speeds, hell my 16/39 hits 182 with a SH correction factor of 11%. as for your buddies R1 pullin ya that sounds about right as they rev about 750rpm's higher till redline so if your geared shorter your given up ground.

yea somethings not right with your speedohealer setting. the 16 isn't going to kill 35 mph up top maybe 10 but thats it. as for bikes and gearing here is a thread that I started when I ran another ten with 15/39 sprockets.

https://zx-10r.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10813

it has some good info from others on the gearing they have tried.
