move '04 wheels/forks/shock to '06?

Any knowledgeable types out there that would know if I could move my '04's BSTs, Ohlins forks and shock to an '06? Thinking about one but have a fair amount of $ into the '04.

I have a question for you:

How is ANYONE supposed to know that, given that nobody who can talk about it has even SEEN one in the outside world yet?

The only thing that can be done at this point, is to take very careful measurements of everything you propose to change over at all the attachment points, and compare those same measurements to those on the new bike when you have access to one.

There is a very good chance that components can be carried over, but at this time, that is ALL that can be said. Nobody knows for sure, and nobody WILL know until someone actually lays hands on one.

Helibars, MRA screen, Ohlins damper, reversed shift pattern, sorted suspension, braided lines, Michelin Pilot Power, all else stock 'coz it's fast enough!

I have one answer for you, actually two. 1 - people actually HAVE laid hands on these bikes, just no new *owners* yet.

There was a thread on here a week or two ago where some guy had two in his shop and was transporting them to a bike show, he even posted pics. Guys were trying to get him to hammer one around a bit and report on it but he said it was raining plus his manager would appreciate it anyway (or something along those lines). Someone in this position could possibly be a source of inside info, or maybe not.

And that brings me to answer #2 - you only know if you ask. Last I checked, no starving kids were being neglected when someone simply asks a question. So relax, no need to I know as well as anyone the '06 isn't even on the market yet, I was just probing to see if anyone had advance info.

I just asked this question myself on the Ohlins rear shock for the 10R. I should be getting a more definate answer back soon. Suffice to say, infact the ZX9R, ZX6R and ZX10R shock are very very similar.

Stroke and length of the shock are likely to be the same or very similar. You'll notice as you look at the shock on the bike as if you were standing behind the back wheel that the current resevoir point to the right hand side of the bike, the '06 model points to the left as the exhaust now comes up the right hand side. Have a look at your shock and check it out, not sure which way the resevoir kinda hangs off, or whether it's completely remote.
