Kawasaki racing cams VS Webcams

Ok so i have a gen3 zx10r and i recently put a gen3 kawasaki race intake cam and a gen1 stock exhaust cam (Same specs as gen3 race exhaust cam). i can tell the bike has gain power and torque but im thinking about going with some much bigger cams from webcams. Ive had a few people tell me that the kawasaki race cams make more power than aftermarket cams. So what i want to know is,is this statement true and Does anyone have any before/after results with webcams. i do know you can over cam the bike if the cams are too big. Thanks for any input.....

Its not so much about are G3 race cams more powerful than Webcams. It is about cam profiling and timing that makes power or not and where it makes power or not. Webcams like any other manufacturers produce various profiles for various bikes to suit various purposes. Add into the equation cam dialing & deck height. What power claims do webcam make about these cams? What are you using the bike for? IE where do you want the power? What other head work do you have? The G3 has the smallest diameter inlet & exhaust valves of all the generations, so extra lift may not give significant benefits as opposed to greater opening time, more overlap or not? To directly & competently answer your question, people need to know about all your mods and specifically which webcams you considering?

OK so just alittle about what ive done to my 2008 zx10r. So ive lighten and balanced the cranshaft, balanced the rods and pistons, put in Wossner 13:7.1 stock bore pistons, stock gen1 exhaust cam (has same specs as gen3 race exhaust cam) and gen3 intake race cam. Cams have been dailed in by 4 degrees.

these are the specs on camshaft......

STOCK : Kawasaki Race : Webcams Small kit Webcams biggest kit
intake 292 / 9.7mm intake 296 / 9.7mm intake 396 / 268 intake 400 / 280
exhaust 280 / 8.5mm exhaust 292 / 8.5mm exhaust 348 / 260 exhaust 384 / 272

im using the bike for roll racing and drag racing like once a month. Its just for fun with friends. i would like the power to be in the low,mid and high areas but if i could only pick 2 i would go with mid and high.

answer to first question, real results. i've installed/degreed every cam web makes except the .396 lift in my customers zx10 builds from the stk lift regrinds to the biggest the 400 lift. the stk lift cheap regrinds make great power everywhere, the web 400 has too much duration stk bore and produces a soft powerband with less hp/torque. the ones in the middle have not outperformed the small webs lol. several different degree #'s tried on these various cams. results are dyno hp/torque and strip/et and mph verified. been degreeing cams 38 years, from experience i know what works/what does not. the gen 3 race, stk gen 1-2 ex cam at the degree #'s i recommended make the strongest hp/torque all the way thru the powerband of all the combo's ive tried. every 10 i set up with them, degreed as stated flies. they are very reliable, strong fast bikes strip or street. cams not ur problem, degree, supporting mods, tune are. not being critical, just telling u like it is. definatley got a cam degree problem from the numbers u stated and cam degree absolutley makes or breaks a build. love the 10 engine, my favorite and all i do is build engines all day/every day, busas, zx14. suz 1000, and tens. gonna pm u my phone, if i hear from u be glad to help any way i can, if not i understand.

OP, that's some good stuff right there... his NA bikes make more mph in the 1/4 than quite a few supercharged/turbo bikes!
