1)
I do not want to use the 190 rear tire on this bike. Besides cosmetics, there is really no point to the 190 rear. I'm wondering if the '05 zx6r which uses a 180 will have a 5.5" rear rim. God only knows the cost to have a spacer machined, but it might be worth looking into. I do not want to try and put a 180 on the 6" rear of the zx10 because I've heard it just eats through the tires too quickly. Any ideas inputs on this?

Anyone tried the zx6r linkage on the 10r yet? I remember hearing it helps out and I'm always looking for something to make (stacy) handle better.

I've been running a 180 rear on a stock rim w/o any problems.

Just curious as to why you dont want to use the 190 is it because tire price, or weight? As you said the 180 was not used on the bike because of increased tire wear. Plus since the 190 has a larger contact patch you can put more of the bikes power to the ground without fear of spinning the tire like you would a 180. If your really looking for quicker turning then my I htink you should just slap the 180 on there and call it a day. You will go through tires a little bit faster but you'll have what you want.

I was avoiding the 180 because as you said it will get eaten faster. The 180 will not maintain shape it will have to be pulled to fit on the rim, rather than just fitting. I want the quicker turn in and more responsive handling of the 180. Something I also had not thought of what if at speed the 180 will deform and begin rubbing the stock rear fender...I guess I'm left with no choice than to keep the 190. I thought Metzeler was supposed to begin making a 190/55 to make it even hieght with a 180, but give the advantages of the larger contact patch...anyone heard what happened to that?

No "pulling" or forcing or any other "making it fit" at all on the stock rim. The 180 tire pops right on. Mounted it at my buddies house myself with his manual tire machine. Easy.

I just removed a diablo corsa 180/55 after 2,500m and don't mind saying so as this is considered a street/track tire therefore the mileage is decent for what ya get. Fitment of a 180/55 is not an issue on a 6" wheel however it must be said a 190/?? is better suited for a 6". I replaced the 180 with a new 190 DC and adjusted my geometry accordingly. (raised the tubes 3mm)
