How many miles on your 04/05 stock chain?

I have over 18K miles, the orings are just starting to come apart and there's some tight and loose spots. I think I can get at least another 1k miles out of it.

I just wanna ride!

Why risk another 1000, go ahead at replace it now. I mean you know you need it, why ride with unreliable parts?

My previous bikes : 1st bike 1984 Honda V45 (750cc)
2nd bike 1999 Gixxer 600
3rd bike 2001 Yamaha FZ1
Current bike 2005 Green ZX10R

I bought my 10 brand new on March 31, 2006 it was a left over from 2005 so I got a really good deal. BREAK IN COMPLETE ! Riding hard and saving up for mods.

1 broken chain while coming out of a high speed turn at a good lean could mean your life, is it still worth getting those last 1000 miles?

1 broken chain while trying to run down that squid that just passed you on that Kan of Tuna could be some costly repairs as the chain take out the sprocket cover, locks up the rear wheel, and sends you to the hospital for 5 day of ICU from the internal trauma, is it still worth getting that last 1000 miles?

The chain and both sprockets are gone with the next tire change. That's going to be within a thousand miles.

How much OTD did you pick your 10 up for (if you donít mind me asking)?

I just wanna ride!

6000miles for me - but then there was that incident where my coat got stuck in the back wheel and knocked the chain off and locked up the back wheel. Maybe, just naybe, that was a factor

Mmmm - let me have a think about that....

The original chain lasted about 33,000 km with mine.

Helibars, MRA screen, Ohlins damper, reversed shift pattern, sorted suspension, braided lines, Michelin Pilot Power, all else stock 'coz it's fast enough!
