How bad is popping on decel?

I am looking at getting a reflash and/or PCV becuase of my constant popping on decel. I was just curious, does anyone know how detrimental to my engine is it if I leave the bike as is? Other than the popping, she runs like a champ. It has been running like this for the last 2 years.

Search the site and do some reading - pulling fuel at 0 percent and reducing at the very low levels (2 and 5 percent, for Dynojet) somewhat should solve it. It did for me and a number of others.

It won't hurt anything. It's after-firing in the exhaust pipe because fresh air is being injected to burn unspent fuel for emissions purposes. Less restrictive pipes make the issue worse than with the stock exhaust. The only thing that may happen is you'll shorten the life of your muffler packing if you're getting a lot of it and more sustained flames.

A re-flash or tuning is not likely to fix anything. You need to get block off plates and remove the air injection valves and plumbing.

I may not be perfect, but at least I don't ride a Suzuki.

Oddly enough, that's when mine started popping on decel. It only happens once in a while and it's always at 3k rpm. When it does happen it's quite funny-people look around trying to figure out where the shots came from. I'd rather it not happen at all though.

Have a wheelie nice day!

Winter sucks.
