Help with Sprocket/chain Question

So I purchased a Driven 41t 525 sprocket for my 05'. The problem came when I put the wheel back on to the bike. I was told I wouldn't need a new chain. When I put the chain back onto the sprocket the axle is about a 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch off from the alignment needed for the axle. Can I buy a link and add it to my chain? Any Suggestions?

-Thanks,
Guy who wanted to keep stock chain.

I tried the same thing with a 16T up front and it was a no go. I think you need a new chain, not sure if adding a link is a good idea. Most people on the forums will tell you to get a new chain with a sprocket change anyways. Good luck.

Yeah, an old chain will wear your new sprocket out in a jiffy, and vice versa, you should replace all 3 as a set.
