HELP!!! Installed TRE on 06, Now it Knocks at Low RPM and Hard Accel

I installed the TRE following the provided directions as well as taking precautions to hook the wires in their appropriate locations. When I took it out for a test ride, I took it slow and only paid attention to the speedo as I was to believe if the speedo looked correct, I probably installed it correctly. Everything appeared normal and I noticed the mid range power surge dropped from ~5500 to ~4500 rpm. I was very happy at this point.

Now, when I'm at low rpm (2000-3000) and apply a generous amount of throttle, I hear a knocking / electrical popping sound coming from the engine while the bike struggles to gain rpms. Once I hit 4500 rpm and the engine hits its stride, the knocking goes away. I've noticed no power loss and I only notice this issue during the aforementioned situation.

Any thoughts??

I noticed the same thing. It's almost as if you're starting out in second gear.

I can assure that it's normal. The lack of having your timing retarded in the first 4 gears makes it more likely to ping and feel bogged down. You basically need to re-learn how to use your clutch when taking off. But don't worry you'll get used to it. I haven't felt the bog in a long, long time.

Is this why they say to have it tuned after the TRE is installed...

It's reassuring to hear others have felt the same thing, but the pinging can't be good on the bike. The Ivan's TRE certainly has taken away much of the god awfully flat low end of the 06 that drove me nuts, but adding in 'pinging' is like taking two steps forward and one step back. I'm installing a -1 sprocket shortly to further improve low end response, however had I known the TRE would have caused this issue I probably would have only done the gearing change.
