Gen4: Air Intake Solenoid Valve

Is it important, do I need it and if so can it be just connected with no hose connected to it...

Iam getting error code FI 2d because its disconnected on my carbon intake ,no hols to mount air intake flap and the hoses of Air Intake Solenoid Valve.
