Fuse box cable removal (2004)

I didn't take pics, so I'll try to describe what I mean.

In the 2004 model, the fuse box is under the seat and is held in place by two clips on each side of it. Once you pull the box out of the clips, you can see all the cables leading to it at the bottom, and the lid (with the fuses underneath) at the top.

Is it possible to pull out the cables (and then connect them back) without damaging the fuse box? In other words, are the cables "hard-wired" into the fuse box, or do they have some kind of connectors that come out of the box?

I want to install an auxiliary power connector (for GPS, phone charging, etc), and I want it to be only powered when the key is in the ignition (and turned). After a while of exploring various ideas, I figured that the most convenient way to connect the relay trigger would be to connect it to the tail light fuse. Now I need some elegant way to get an extra pair of cables there, or at least one (the other going to the ground).

Why not just "tap" into the needed wires to run the aux you mention instead of taking everything out and apart? like when i hook up a 2nd fan for the radiator, it's hooked thru a switch/relay/fuse, there's no need to go thru all of that just run it from the battery and then use something for your "remote" wire like a car radio so it's only (on) or in use when the key is turned on. unless i completely misunderstood? sorry if so...

No, you understood it fine. I just want to avoid messing with wire insulation and so on. These wires are somewhat fragile and they are not easy to replace individually (since they are all bundled together). I'm a bit paranoid about the wiring harness...

I looked at the parts diagram and it seems that the fuse box is not replaceable. That's too bad, but I got another idea where to connect the trigger: the tail lights. Since I have already messed with these wires (I installed a brake light flasher), adding a wire to trigger the relay won't make it any worse.
