Faulty Shifting

Ive been having problems upshifting when accelerating so i pull the engine to split the crankcase thinking its going to be a shift fork, only as im removing the clutch i find that one of the friction plates is split in half. Could this be the cause of my promblem or should i dig deeper into the transmission. Thanks for any advice.

I could be wrong but, I would replace all the clutch plates (since you found a problem there) and try that first before splittin cases.

Yes if it not letting the clutch fully disengage. Definately try that before you split the cases.
