Electrical/battery/stator???

I've searched and searched and brought up more questions. 2007 10r btw.
Rode about 3 tanks of gas thru the bike in 2 days, then last night take it out, fill it up and ride on, 10 miles later dash starts dimming, FI light comes on, and bike dies, wont re-start. I go home get the trailer and take it to the garage to work on it. I check all connections to fuel pump, batteries, etc and re-charge the battery (interstate batt purchased 10-09)
Battery was on charger about 45min, I ride home 20 miles on interstate, 3 miles before my house it does the same thing. (1:30am btw, grrr) I push it home and stick it on the battery tender. Today i take the battery to load test it and it tests fine.
I assume stator, but didnt hear any of the whine noice that it usually accompanies.
Question is, if battery was dead from trying to start it and just a 45min 2 amp charge would it not have stayed charged enough to get it home, or would it still draw more than the bike could produce?
I'll test stator and rectifier tonight. Rumor is if one goes bad, replace them both? any other ideas? I'm also going to take the bike out with a full charge on the battery and see how long it runs. Any idea if the stator is bad how long it will last? Or if the stator is bad (meaning I was going to ride first and take the easy way out before testing it) is this a horrible idea? any more damage, etc?

From what you're describing it's either a bad (or a few) cell in the battery or to me it sounds like the stator is going out, I've had this issue several times with my 01' 750 and it was the stator/rectifier each time........when mine went out the bike would only run for as long as the battery had juice then everything would go dead.........a short charge or a jump and it would make it another few miles and BAM same shit again!!! hope you get it figured out and fixed though man cause i know these types of problems will drive ya nuts!!!!

Well its confirmed, mine is the stator, overnight shipping the parts, hoping to have it back this week on the road so I can get some miles in before we head south

Just wanna double check ... mine has same problem. Spent a month trying to get a hold of a quality stator, ended up with an oem part. Now I'm worried that the rectifier/regulator could've caused the stator to fry.

Any insight? I have a tester but no idea how to use it. have the rectifier/regulator off the bike now.
