Question DID 520 w/ Sprockets Install - Any Gotcha's?

After dorking around with the stock chain over and over trying to find enough slack to accommodate a newly installed 40T rear sprocket (could only get around 3/4" travel), I broke down and purchased the D.I.D. ERV2 and 17/40 kit from Kyle Racing Engines.

http://kyleusa.com/catalog/520_chain...it_3592325.htm

I will also have access to a D.I.D. all-in-one chain cutting and peen tool (borrowed from a coworker).

Any gotcha's with this install?

Thanks
Phil

The only problem I know of is the hell you'll go through getting off that front sprocket nut. Or will the stock one work with the 520?

I also purchased the same 520 conversion from Dan Kyle with 17/40 sprockets. Haven't done the installation yet. Any advice will also be greatly appreciated.

Does the sprocket nut work with the 520 front sprocket?

All I gotta ask is why are all of the 10R owners waisting thier time putting 520 on these bikes? Do you all like the idea of ripping teeth off of the sprockets and having to replace them.

My bike came with the 520 on it and I ripped all of the teeth off of a sprocket specialist rear in about 2000 miles. I have a Renthal hard anodized on it now with no probs, but I am also 40 to 50rwhp lower than the 10.

Is the 1/2lb weight savings over the 525 setup worth that much?

In my case, I've found that I "evidently" don't ride hard enough to have stretched the O.E.M. chain to accommodate a new 40T.

Since I have the bike apart and a now apparent bug to try this 17/40 combo, I ordered the Kyle 520 kit.

**Honestly, I have a number of friends who run their bikes hard and have had zero problems with the AFAM and 520 upgrade (no chewed up sprockets, etc.,)

When installing any new chain setup make sure to loosen the CS nut prior to removing the old chain otherwise you'll be there for dayz attempting to remove it.

When peening/flaring the mstr link pins alternate back and forth between the two little by little and DO NOT press it on overly tight cuz you'll end up with a link that isn't supple like the others AND most likely split them so avoid this at all costs.
