decking the head

i have a 2005 zx 10r full system, bmc, power commander and custom dyno tune. pulled 169.7 at wheel. my friend crashed his 04 ten but had not put in his 13:5 weisco pistons, sold them to me for 250.00 in box. i have 18000 miles still runs great but antz to use pistions, will they cut rilabilty. i go to quicktime motorsports for dyno tuning and the owner said, with those pistons, degreeing cams and porting head i should get 15 to 18 rearwheel wheel gain. said it may run slightly hotter but shouldn't be a reliability problem going from 12:7 to 13:5 pistons. i have had 13 different cycles all companies, the ten has been my favorite and i cant sell this bike as it was my friends who died ( not on bike ) and i cant let her go. i improved my brakes and put in race tech g2 valving with hyperpro springs ( they have a constant velocity spring ) for my weight. feels like i could manage a bit more power with these upgrades. any comments? how bout you garth?
i was going to give the beamer a try but going from 90,000 to 50,000 a year im a bit shy for it, can handle a few grand though. reason is i put 40000 miles on an 04 and 10000 on this one curious to see what happens. plus gives me something to do besides fight with my old lady ovewr winter. thank you paul

I have a friend who tried the stock bore wisecos and he actually lost power over stock! I know it sounds strange but it's true. He had ported head+ thin gasket+ webcams.
I suggest leaving the pistons and port/deck the head and get some aftermarket camshafts. You can also deck the head abit. Garth285 can help you out on this.

If you plan to change pistons maybe you should go overbore 2mm (safer) or 3mm.
And if you're opening the engine you will need gaskets, maybe bearings, clutches, springs etc...Engine will be hotter and more noisy. For sure you need Ti retainers and heavier valve springs, even if you go stock bore. The gen1 likes compression but don't go too much!!!

Sounds like you have a plan, but 18hp is just pushing it

thank you for responses gentlemen, ur crazy garth alot like the original owner of my bike, he's probably smile down on us now. garth whatdo you suggest about decking the head and getting a little hotter cams ? id like to pick up around 10 to the wheel but don't want to loose characteristics of the power curve. oh i got velocity stacks too basically for the sound but i hear they add a horse or two. had them for my 04 but never used them but would like to try them on this 05

ok after successfully recovering from a slight hang over... I can finally function lol...

ummm my bike had the JE 13.5:1 pistons in it but they were 2mm over... i decked my head .010" which I think brought it roughtly around 14.5:1 compression and I had ZERO piston to valve clearance and I was even running the 9.7mm lift cam and stock exhaust cam...

as for cams idk what you have for cams but if you can find a 04-07 race intake cam snag it what ever the price may be.... if you cant you can run a 08+ race intake as well... stick witht he stock exhaust cam.

dont bother getting custom cams made unless your going with a bigger motor anything more than the race stuff is almost a waste of good money, you could spend that money on going to a 2 or 3mm kit

LoL ...
I'd like to believe certain advices are trully given upon own succesfull experience... but its assessment should be strongly considered based on the unconventional setup, and if you don't want to blow your engine up in pieces.
