Chain and sprocket Q's

What chain and sprocket size do you guys use? I need to replace mine and was wondering what everyone else has. Not Asking what is the best becasue everyone has there opinions. I got 16/39 with a 520 now and was think of going to a 17/42 520. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do both your sprockets need replacing or just the chain or what? My thought is if you already have a 16t on the front, it likely does not need replacing so you could just get a chain and a 39 rear sprocket instead of having to buy a new front also. I just replaced mine with a 520 and added 2 links to be able to fit different size rear sprockets but with the stock sprocket teh wheelbase is about 20mm longer. I havent' ridden it yet but it's a visible difference so curious how it's going to be

i`m running 17/46 with a 530 conversion. for street running the 530 is a overkill. the gearing isnt bad as long as your not freeway commuting. it runs 4500 rpm @55, 5500 rpm @ 65 and 6000 rpm @75. for twisty stuff it makes 2 gears useable everywhere. the tight spacing of 4th , 5th and 6th make dropping three at 80mph and below while on the brakes comforting and the relatively high first gear makes dropping into first @ 30mph (as long as your handy with your clutch) not too low. thats what i`m each there own.

Stock gearing, and DID chain , just replaced chain and sprockets, the old ones are still like new but the chain was getting too much wag for my liking.
