Brake lever Return spring for Rearsets

After searching thru all the posts and trying to decide which reasets to buy for my new 10R, one common theme kept surfacing. Many were concerned or disappointed there was no brake lever return spring and just moved on without one. Personally I don't think not having one is a serious issue, but here is a little racing trick we used many years back. Find or buy yourself 1 clutch spring and install it between the clevis and the master cylinder like in the pix below. I have not tried this on my 10R yet but has worked on many bikes I have owned. These photos are off one of my older bikes, but I plan to do the same to my 10R when I install my new rearsets.

Oh by the way, I purchased the Attack rearsets and they arrived yesterday. The gold is almost identical the the Titanium colored Gilles chain adjusters I got so I was reall happy with that.

That is the exact way I did mine with my Gilles rearsets. Works like a champ.

Graves Motorsports makes a spring which is specifically designed for this application.

Good link, good find.

I see the spring as being a safety device only as we all know that many of us have ridden many 1000's of miles with no spring on our rearsets.

But what happens if the brake lever gets tweaked lighty in a minor spill or tip over, and you don't think about it, you go to press the pedal and it doesn't come back up.

Hence the spring is a safety item in my mind and I would recommend it. Since it can't hurt, relatively cheap mod, then why not?
