Axle problems?

I am in the process of replacing my bent front rim (only a slight bend, causes a small vibration) and have heard that a damaged rim can also damage the axle. Can anyone confirm this?

Anyone out there to put my fears to rest, or confirm them?

You should be able to check it with a straight edge. Or take it to a shop and have them use a wheel balancer and a runout gauge.

Yes it can happen, I bent the lip on my old ZX9 and the axle was also bent in the process.

I would think you'd have to whack the piss outta the rim pretty good to bend the axle though. roll that sucker on a table top and see if it wobbles? i've done this with fork tubes in the past and it worked good enough.

Take a risk, and you may lose. Never risk, and you will always lose.
