been running without one and don't see a diff ( lost the bolts in the garage). I read elsewhere that some racers take it off to get more flex.

You need to heat it to break up the threadlock. also tapping the L key in deep may help since most of the stripping happens on the outer parts.

What? More flex? If you can actually explain why you would need more flex then i wonít flame you(there is one reason hint " controlled lateral flex" ).
Otherwise YOU NEED TO STOP GIVING OUT BAD information than you have no idea about. NO PUT THAT gusset back into the frame. I donít think that the frame will break if you leave it out but it is there for a reason so why would you wont to weaken the frame of your bike.

sorry but Iím tired of the squids on this board giving out bad info. GO BUY A GIXXER and be like all the other Suzuki riders than think GIZZXER is the right way to say gsx-r. And think that you can put a Cold air intake on a 600.

Sorry long night. Rant off.

I took mine off shortly after buying the bike. I've done 3 trackdays without, and assuming nothing weird happens when I go to slicks, it'll be staying off.

Cheers,
Brian

Take a fuggin chill pill then re read my post, all it states is that there are some racers who do that and that is a fact you can check by using the search.

where do you get off calling people you don't know a Squid ???

lastly learn to spell better, can't believe you don't know how to spell a simple 4 letter word like WANT and THAT ( I'll let the grammer slide for now)

I'll buy a Gixxer if you go back to grade school.

Now go play in traffic.

Sorry to insult you i, that was more of an overall rant then related to you.

Yea i cant spell worth crap.

I am owner of a motorcycle shop here in Greensboro and I am always fixing bikes because someone read it on the internet. It seems more often than not that it is the suzuki guys.

Unrelated example
It seems like the new thing to do is leave the rear axle loose because people think they get less bearing drag and their swing arm cracks and the bearing are spinning on the axle and eat it up.

Just a bunch of stuff like that. But that gusset is not that big of a deal.

But the reason people are taking it out is when the bike is laid over the suspension wants to move side to side(the bike is at a 45* angle and the suspension wants to move at the angle a small amount) and a little flex will give the bike better compliance with the track.

My point is unless you know for a good source what is does or have done it please don’t repeat things because you heard someone else did it.
