anyone ever dyno a bike BMC or K&N Vs. No filter?

Wondering if anyone has dyno'ed a 10r without a filter installed like one run with a BMC or K&N installed and then with no filer in?

No I haven't actually dynoed it that way but my guess is no filter will net you very little gain if any over having a filter in. Also it could be potentially harmful due to all the debris you could pick up. Also with the more air flow you will get a leaner condition which you would have to compensate for tuning wise. Even with tuning for that I don't think you would really gain to much. But that's my opinion.

I think BMC has a street and race version. Race one has more air-flow which means less filtering. You'd want the one for the street. I got the K&N because I have the cleaner/lube kit from my car K&N filters. BMC makes their own cleaner/lube kit and is around $20. Don't know about dyno #'s but I'm sure it's minimal.

I vaguely recall someone doing such in 04 but would never remember who but i do recall very little if any performance gain between the 2 filters as well as without one.

It was me. I keep all my dyno graphs from every race bike as well as engine oil analysis from every race weekend.

We had zero improvement with any filter or with no filter. The stock filter became our race choice.

Our race 10R was making 170 on pump gas. Just over 180 on MR9. We spent alot of time on the dyno which was also the dyno used for our base runs. We actually lost three positions in 1 race for blowing .1 over on the dyno in a 170hp max class...oh well, rules are rules.

Im defitnly not going to ride around with out a filter by the way, just lookin to squeeze a lil more outta the bike if possible......I'm going to do the valve adjustment tonight though since i got the shim kit in the other day but we'll see

I did a back to back run on a zx14 and with a modded filter vs. no filter it gained 4hp.... On motor I'll lean her out a lil for the dyno run on motor and then on nitrous I have a good map in there for a 183 run.

I'll let ya guys know tomm who wins!!!!
