Alternator lever: what for?

This pic is from the 2004 service manual.

What is the "alternator lever" (A) for? What does it do? It's just a little bracket with no evident function, but I'm sure is there for a reason...

It holds the alternator shaft from moving from the gyroscopic force of the alternator.
It also moves the whole assembly in front abit so everything is spinning freely.
This thing rotates at double the speed of the engine.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought that this little piece can actually have that kind of an impact.

I hope you are not serious bud!!!

Also for other people, if you took it off...put it back on. It works like a safety clip planted with 2 bolts to hold it.

I suggest listening to what Tasos has to say he has a vast knowledge of not only the 1st gen but 1st to 3rd Gens...I know at least for me I will take what he says as almost golden information.
