16 tooth Front sprocket?

A couple of questions for you guys more technical minded then me (never mod'd my GSXR in the years I had it).

What are the differences between a 520 Chain Conversion Kit and a 525 Kit?

And to the guys that have fitted a 16 tooth front sprocket... was there much difference on the bike? I have an 09 ZX10R and find that 1st gear is really tall and I don't need to be able to do 170 kph (not me, but a mate took his 09 10R out and tested how fast it could go after a kawasaki mechanic told him about 1st gear speed).

Have a service coming up soon and if its worth it I'll change sprockets etc.

Cheers
Sutto

The difference between a 520, and a 525 is thickness of the chain. If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure the stock chain is a 525-108, so I don't think you'll need to swap sprockets (unless going up or down)

I noticed a huge torque change when I swapped to a 16t sprocket, along with a shorter first gear. I personally would rather have light to light speed that a massive top end. My bike cruises around 5-6k rpm at 65-75mph.

16 will give you better launch but less on top end.but unless you peg it to 189-you won't know.

lead, follow or get out of the way !

Cheers guys....not too worried about top end. Highest speed I had down the front straight of local race track was around 280kph (173mph).

Yes like mentioned the 16t will wake the bike up in the low end. I have a 16t on my track bike and the acceleration out of a corner is where you will benefit. I also had the 1/5 turn insert and then a quick turn throttle. The combination of the two made for fun fast corner exits but steady throttle application as my 10 liked to wheelie out of corners if applied to hard or fast.

Green Sutto!
Difference between 520 and 525 is 520 has 20mm (0.78 inch) thickness and 525 has 25mm (0.98 inch)thickness.
I recommend you to do not change the number of teeth in front sprocket. If for any reasone you want to reduce the speed and have more torqe on your rear wheel, do the changing on rear one. 17t to 16t does make difference on riding. However i recommend you do the edit in the back becasue it last longer. Instead of changing front from 17t to 16t and have the back at 39t, keep the front 17t and change the rear sprocket to 41t (the Ratio of them are simlilar).

I wish you good luck!

Am i seeing this right?? Aint the 10's all 41 at the rear?? if anything if im understanding this correctly, stick with 525 and go 43t in the rear....Leave the front alone..Harder in the output shaft bearings and seems to affect the suspension travel a smidge too..
