08 with no muffler

Has anyone tried this? I was tinkering around with the muffler and oh my it comes off easy!! My 6R was mounted to the tail so any messing around on that part required loosenign the exhaust from the tail, etc. etc.

I did turn the bike on without the muffler and oh my, what a noise!! My question is, without the muffler, will there be a lack of hp/torque as a result of lessened back pressure? What if I run a slash cut straightpipe as a muffler; will the lack of packing in there be a bad idea? I know its gonna be a loud bish but my concern is not losing any power down low.

I'm waiting for the akro full system however I'm going to take full opportunity over the ease of removing the muffler in fabbing up something custom in the meanwhile.

Any insight on this appreciated.

If your goal is to make racket/noise and attract unwanted attention from Mr Leo then by all means remove it and install some slash cut but thats pretty much the same.

haha, racket is the arrow thunder cans on the MV, now THAT is loud.

So there shuld be no diff perf wise or its not harmful because of the free-flow? Thats my main concern, cheers

I have the same question as you, my 08 is mufflerless as we speak. "Baby" is just going to be a track bike so I think I will leave it open. Yes !! it does sound goooood. I don't think it is as loud as many would think that it would be. And I don't believe in being obnoxious, especially on the street. But I personally don't think it is that bad. At least until you "get on it."

It looks 100% better without the can as well, I would see if i could get a stainless steel collar made up that gave it a finsihed look and call it a day until I could fit a proper full system.
