06 zx10r swing arm on 04 10r

I love the idea of having a custom undertail exhaust on my 04 10r. I saw another post where a guy had pulled it off. I was wondering what all would be necessary besides the swingarm, and the 636 exhaust with custom tubing to make it all work. Would the suspension need to be swapped as well?

any tips would be appreciated just trying to see if i'm trying to bite off more than I can chew.

ps. i don't give a rats ass about any performance differences, its for looks. I LOVE how my 636 looked. and my legs won't smell like exhaust either

The caliper bracket is different, thats about all you will need besides the swingarm, the 04-05 shock should work, every thing else will bolt on, you could also probably still keep the side exhaust if you are intereested in going that route, although you would probably either have to mod or remove the plate behind the right rear set. As far as exhaust goes, you might have to get creative if you want to go undertail.

If you have access to the 06 shock and linkage I would use it, but you are gonna have a frankenbike and have to play around with different combos, to get the ride height right, then you have the isssues of linkage ratios, you will have to do some experimenting with different stuff if you ar ea racer, but for street riding you should be OK. Good thing all the different parts are cheap on ebay, so you can try different combos, etc.

im not 100% but i believe the 2nd gen swingarm is shorter by about 2 inches which would make it a wheelie machine. unless you find a way to keep the chain near stock length. i believe 9r is the swingarm conniseur.

Yeah it seems like the swingarm wont be the problem it is all the metal work to get the exhaust all lined up nice. Will have to check out ebay/ for sale threads to catch something for cheap...

Not 2 inches, more like 1/2" you can easily achieve the same wheelbase, by adjusting your number of chain links.
