Unhappy 05 zx10r - very sluggish below 6000 rpm - HELP!!!

Hello all. As some of you may know, I just installed an 05 zx10r engine in my Z1000. While waiting on the exhaust to show up, I rode it several times with an open header and no "air temp" sensor. It was mental!!! I was able to power-up a wheelie in sixth gear, for crying out loud! Now it has a Muzzy sidewinder and an air box sensor installed. The power really seems to have died in lower rpms. No, I don't have a pcIII. It also skips and surges if pinned open when below 6000 rpm - happens in any gear. Once it hits 6000..... its business as usual. It does have iridium plugs, are they fouled out now? I was told that it would run rich without that sensor, and possibly foul the plugs. What do you all think? Yes, I know I need a pcIII. However, it should still haul ass like it is. What has happened?

I had this same issue a few weeks back. My 05 10' was sluggish untill like 5-6k or so and surged pretty bad. Did a plug change and it solved the problem. The thing has run like a champ since and I have had no issues.

Hopefully this will be your issue. I say that b/c it's a easy $42,00 fix

Goodluck!

I would say go with stock plugs till you get a pc3 that would be an expensive change if it kept fouling out
