What really happened?

Let's say that a certain manufacturer in AMA Superbike racing (*cough*Suzuki*cough*) used traction control during a race. Let's assume that the traction control could be switched on and off because it was designed for corner exits, not race starts. Now let's say a race was started, the rider switched on the traction control, then the race was red flagged on the first lap. The rider lines up again and forgets that he has the traction control switched on. Could this be what happened to Mladin? I have never seen a seasoned racer have such an ugly start as Mladin had this weekend. Seemed to be alot more than just dumping the clutch in a clumsy manner. Just a theory but.........

why does it matter? AMA allows tc now.

did seem like the bike cut out or something. too bad, he was flying and maybe he could've given spies a race.

+1 TC was allowed and is now accepted for AMA superbike so I am sure he had it. I know Ducati was running TC that they were able to get it directly from world superbike program and were running it at laguna

It's not a question of Suzuki's use of TC. That's a given. The question is did it cause Mladin to blow a start. I've seen alot of guys mess up a launch, myself included. But somehow Mladin's mistake didn't look like your average goofed clutch actuation. I've been looking for Mladin quotes about the race, but no luck so far. Even if someone asks him directly, I'm not sure he will be open to a discussion about it.

I agree. He was caught off guard. The only reason tc is allowed is because ama couldn't do anything about it.
