Questions about leathers for track day

Hi!

I just got my 10R not too long ago, and was thinking about doing a track day. I have a nice perforated leather jacket, though it is a no-name marketed by ridenow. Here's a link on ebay to it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perfo...spagenameZWD1V

It only has the 8" rear zipper, not a full circumference zipper. Is this jacket good enough to match up some pants to do a track day with? I also use Joe Rocket Meteor boots on the street, which, while very nice, do not come up as high as full race boots (they come up to just under mid calf). Do I need new boots too? Of course, money saved from gear could go towards tires and gas to get to the track (Jennings GP is about 3 hours from me).

If you guys think I should just get a new suit, any tips for an affordable two piece perforated or well ventilated suit (here in Florida it is above 90 degrees most of the year). If I got a new one, I'd just sell my current jacket and use the suit on the street, and jacket only when doing the 3 mile commute to school. I'd like to keep it under $500 or so, so I'm hoping there's a leather shop or no-name outfit out there that makes a good product without all the marketing expense. If it helps, I take about a 42" chest jacket, but am tall at 6'3, so usually jackets come up quite short on my arms. Same deal with most standard size 32" leather pants; the inseam is too short. :(

Thanks guys. Really looking forward to my first track day!

I agree. Spend the money on a quality 1-Piece and you'll be much happier.

+1 for the one piece. ran a bunch with my old two piece and once i switched to a one piece it was night/day difference in fit and feel.

STT and NESBA has some leathers available for rent.... You will need boots and gauntlet style gloves. And a helmet of course.

Go with the one peace. Much safer and you will still have a separate jacket.

Looks like everyone who knows what they're talking about suggests a one piece! Is it simply because it is less likely to come apart at the zipper where a two piece would be held together? Also, here are the boots I have:

http://www.newenough.com/boots/water...cle_boots.html

Good enough?

And here are the gloves I have:

http://www.newenough.com/gloves/stre...le_gloves.html

They are not gauntlet style but are some good gloves! (kangaroo leather with lots of padding)

Perhaps I will just rent a set of leathers my first few times out to have more cash for tires and expenses...

Thanks for the help thus far!

Those are very nice gloves, but I don't think that you will be allowed to use them.

Both NESBA ans STT (Sportbike Track Time) require gauntlet style gloves.
