So I'm on my last 1hr of my 6 hour ride up and down a twisty mountain road. Its a real beautiful road up the coast to Whistler. Speaking on which, I think i saw rspec99 on his orange 10r with gold wheels going the other way. Not many of those in Vancouver. Anyways, the road is mostly one lane with the occassional two lane for passing zones which essentially turns into a road race to get ahead of the slower traffic. Lucky for all of us, traffic was somewhat light this morning.
So my bro and i ranup onto a squidly looking guy on a gsxr1k. When he saw us pull up on him, he started 'warming' his tires by going back and forth behind the slower car in front of him. Alot more when he saw the "passing lane in 2kms" sign. I could see his rear tire and it was worn to the edges so i figured this guy was somewhat capable. I know its wrong to street race... i mean, what would my wife say??? Should I be taking the bait?
Up came the passing lane, he bolted in full tuck...
the slow cars all moved to the right, and i think the sun got a little brighter... Let me tell you, it wasn't a tough decision. I dropped two gears and went after him. To my surprise, this guy was quick. I mean he was using a LOT of lean angle, actually I was kind of scared for him. This put me at a decision point, either let him go or pass him briskly and get out of his way. Hmm decisions decisons...
To my brothers delight and mine, I decided to run his ass down. I was using top of 3rd and 4th gear so we were moving. I used less lean angle for safety margin but was much more aggressive on the throttle. We passed an F4i that tried to get in on the fun, but was left for dead. About 6 corners later I realed him in and started to set him up for a pass. The passing lane was running out and this guy is probably thinking I am waaayyy back, so I decided to pass him in going into turn 7 or also known as, the next corner. Than for good measure i turned it up for another 2 corners to further question manhood, than slowed it down. It was getting WAY out of hand and putting other people in danger.
I moved to the right lane and about 5 seconds later he blasts by close to FULL LEAN and hits a small puddle about 15 meters ahead of me. I suppose his guardian angel was with him as he just ran way wide and collected it back up for the next corner. It was ugly but he stayed up to his credit. His demeanor changed quite a bit after that.
My bro had great view from behind so it was cool hearing it from his vantage point. Too bad we didn't have a camera rolling. Anyways, thought i'd share. Chalk another one up for kawi.
