Finally Got To Run against a 10R Tonight...
..and jeez it wasn't even a contest. My 2000 Busa is bone stock, not even a airbox mod. Has K&N air filter in it, synthetic oil, Avon tires, Half a tank of gas at the time of the Run. ZX-10 was Black and stock except for the muffler i believe was a slip on (no badge on the pipe though) and i do believe that's all that was done to the bike, besides front wheel recall.
Lined up at 70mph and he's goosing the throttle (he was going to give me the jump), knocked the gears down so i'm at 6500rpm and Dropped the Hammer hard enough the tire raised a bit as the busa leaped ahead, Not missing a beat i tapped the clutch lever and clicked her into the next gear at 10,500rpm but the ZX-10 scooted past me and started making bike lengths' on me (looked like a scene out of the "Knight Rider" Tv Show). Stayed in her and was giving it all she had but the 10 had probably 5 bike length's on me by the time he let up due to us coming up on heavy traffic Fast. My speedo read around 160mph when he shutdown. MAybe if we coulda kept it going the aero's of the busa may have changed things but i woulda needed a mile to make it happen. No excuses and no Regrets he got me and it was fun. Gave him the thumbs up and shook hands when we stopped. I knew i was more then likely going to get killed, just wanted to see by how much. It was a fun run none the less. [smilie=m:
May try pipe and cams for next year or, if the new Gixxer 1000 is mean enough to put a few ZX-10's up for sale cheap, maybe i'll retire the busa for a year and give a used ZX-10 a try. Be an awesome 2nd bike and the first true "cornering" bike i've ever had the chance to own (been running big bores all my days). Either way it's gonna be another year before i turbo boost the busa...which by the way i Turned 10,000 miles on her tonight after the race. Finally she's broke in and ready for Boost. [smilie=d:
