Draggin

OK fellas, I need to know where everyone's leaving the line at. I need to get some better launches and want to know what rpm's your starting at and at what rpm's does a 636 like to be shifted at for best performance. Only had it at the track once and made 2 passes so far.

What's done to the bike (height, wheel base, gearing, etc.) and how much do you weigh?

The bike is an 06 6R that's completely stock. I'm about 5'10'' and weigh about 170 and 184 with clothes/helmet.

try to launch it around 6 grand give or take 1. Basically, when you launch it you want the front wheel about 2-4 inches off the ground, thats when your building the most power. I havent launched mine hard yet but from what littile I have 5-6 grand seems about right. In all honesty, the only way your going to learn it is to do it and don't be scared of lifting the front wheel cuz it's going to happen, trust me.

and slip the clutch, I'd get a lowering strap - they're really cheap and will help keep the front end down.

Thanks guys. That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. It's always better to have a ballpark figure to start off with. I know I'll go back, but any good advice will help me learn that much faster. Can you guys tell me where your 6R seems to build the most power? That is, where do you guys shift at for best acceleration? Thanks.

I've been shifting mine around 14 grand or so, I have the shift light set at it's lowest setting and it's usually lit for a second before I even notice it.

Cool. What kind of times are you running? I know this is bad, but I didn't even know you could adjust your shift light. I'd better get to reading.

I dont run a track man, mainly just goofing off on back roads. My idea of a track probably isnt the same as yours, I hate going fast in a straight line but love holding a corner at insane speeds.
