Brake fluid

How often do you change brake fluid in your track bikes? Do you actually experience brake degradation due to a lowered boiling point?

Has anyone switched to DOT5? Just curious...

I usually end up changing fluid about every 10k miles or so. Doesn't seem to impact their performance. But don't use DOT 5 unless your brake system is designed for it.

Since DOT 5 is silicone based, it isn't necessarily compatible with all of the materials used in a DOT 3/4 brake system.

Send a message via MSN to caboose
I use Motul RBF and flush it 3 times a season. That works out to once every 5 track days or race weekends or so.
