Start working on getting a massive credit limit. I guess you'd have to start with some type of school that gets you licensed to race in the amateur class. Then start winning and impressing and go from there. It's a tough go and very competitive. Good Luck.

Take a school or ten to get the basics down. Do some track days to get used to it. Once you get a track only bike, put your money in suspension and leave the motor alone. Buy a year old race bike from a fast guy makes it easier so you don't have to mess with the suspension a ton. And yes find some credit cards if you want to be competitive

Pretty much. Sell your house, any other toys you may have, put your wife on the corner and kids in a sweat shop and there you go. Just kidding. Its not that bad but feels like during the season. You must take a NRS (New Racers School) to obtain your license. I would recommend spending at least 10-15 track days on the bike you plan on racing before you think about the NRS. But buy a used setup race bike. Saves alot. I built my CBR600RR from new off the floor and $20K later I'm no longer racing (whole nother story though). But if you buy a bike or turn your street bike into a track bike invest the majority of your money into brakes and suspension. Entry, corner, and exit lines and speeds are key to being competitive. All things associated with brakes and suspension.

Plan your season out in advance. Pick your track, what classes and make a budget on what you are spending on what (you will not like that part). Buy some tires over the winter so you don't have to worry about it until you win some tire money (if it applies to you). And save save save money over the winter. And I'm sure you're thinking "what if I got a sponsor?". Those are very hard to come by in the road racing world.
