There are companies that are hiring. So many new people trying to make a living on driving a rig. Best bet is to hook up with a small company. Feds are slapping new regs for drivers. tough to make a living. 4-6 weeks out and one day off for every week spent on the road.

Rain. Whats is this Rain i keep hearing?.

There a point system now. When you get inpected or a ticket. so many points will againest you and the company you drive for. get so many points and you can no longer drive. just this week. DOT said next month they will change the rules for hour of service. instead of driving 11 hours. you can only drive 10 hours. one hour dont sound much, But you add the miles you could had driven in a week. your pay check get a little smaller. There other laws that they are thinking about. one is weight. instead of 80,000 pounds your truck can weigh. the gov want to bring it down to 70 or 65 thousand pounds. The body mass index system. if you have more fat there what the gov said you are suppose to have. you can not drive. That part got shot down, But it may come back.

Drove a double dulie gravil truck in my dads gravil pit from the time I was 13. Double clutch'n and everything. I'd like to get my CDL just to have in case... but they want to charge 3x as much (in Illinois) so if i'm not going to make income, it's not worth it to carry the commercial license.

I'm pretty sure if I did, I could pass all the HazMat, Radioactive, chem tests and be able to hall all the really scarry stuff.

Need to know how to install your Rifleman's 1/5th throttle insert? click me
For more info on a sticky grip (not enough cable slack) click me

They pay good money if you get hook with a company that haul that kind of stuff, But it may not be the safest job around. knew a driver who did that he did only for 6 months and gave it up. Haz mat is nice to have. just a pain in the butt. take a test every two years and get finger printed and a back ground check. I understand why they do it. It cost alot here in Arizona for it.
