Thinking of Buying 2002 CBR 954

Hi All,

Thinking of buying a 2002 CBR 954 with 7200 miles. Also what do you think is a good price for this bike? Does anyone have any useful info i should know about this bike. Anything good/bad? Will be used on the street no track days. Also, how do you think they stack up against today's 1000s? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I wouldn't bother picking one up. You already have a much better liter bike in every aspect. But it depends on what you want another bike for. Plenty of great '04-'05 maybe an '06 600's in that price range and are great for track bikes. You're probably looking about $5K-$6K for one.

I sold my ZX i few months ago, i had to get a new car. Now I am back in the motorcycle market, but I don't want to spend too much. I found a cbr 954 for $5K and was thinking about getting it.

Dude, I wouldn't touch one of those with a 10 foot pole. I had a new one in 02. The rear suspension link broke on me & threw me into a wall at 100kph. Honda didn't do a thing about it and threatened to take me to court if I bad mouthed them. There words "we can afford more on lawyers than you". Its different here in NZ. Can't sue like the USA. Get a ZX6RR. I have an 05 one plus a 2006 black ZX10R. 10 is great for the road & the 6 is awesome on a track.

I used to have an 02 and it was a great bike. They had a recall on the steering bearings I believe it was and they put a notch in the vin# plate in front of the tank if it was done. They didnt push but around 130hp but still thats plenty for the street or trackdays. Mine handled well and was a very solid built bike. I regretted selling that bike for a long time.
It was a wheelie monster too.

I do love the honda trunk and helmet holder setup- makes it a great streetbike for everyday use.

I miss those things about my 900rr.

There have been some REAL good deals on 10Rs on here though....
