Should we be paying $6 per gallon of gasoline?

http://www.newsweek.com/id/133994/page/1

Interesting article on why gas isn't expensive enough...

I think gas is expensive enough already, but it makes sense. Cheep gas doesn't promote conservation.

Thoughts? And what changes will you make if it gets that high?

$6 per gallon is how much I pay for my bike off base and I don't really mind paying that for the bike because it falls under recreation...I'm pissed at the $3.30 were paying per gallon for the van

I'm not buying the media crap for a second. We are borrowing 12 billion per month for Iraq but not restoring or building refinerys. Meanwhile the oil companies are making huge profits by NOT restoring refinerys. HMMMMMM.... It's all a political game. In Saudi, gas is 25 cents per gallon. Addicted to oil???!!!!?? WTF?? I have to buy gas to get to work so I can buy more gas to get to work so I can.....

If they stopped making monster displacement 3800lb V8,s and built smaller, lighter cars with the same internal dimensions , then we would be in better shape.

4 and 6 banger light Euro cars still kick big lugging heavy US gas guzzlers in the ass all day long, needless to say they handle much better too .

It is a loose loose situation, either we pay more for fuel and it drains our wallet or we pay less and we run out in a few years, when it all boils down one of the main reasons we are getting hosed on fuel prices is because everyone in china "all 100 billion of them" want cars, bikes, and things like that so obvious consumption rates are going to sky rocket. to try and curve the fuel consuption we add ethanol from corn and now farmers are saying that they are running low on their reserve. I hate to say it but something has to give and i think its going to be transportation as we know it.

That just about sums up most peoples attitudes..

I work in an area that would be considered lower economic..

the streets are filled with escalades, denalis, burb's, hummers etc all cruising around on their 22 inch rims an 10mm profile tires....with the bass's turned up as loud as they will go...so so so kool

I have heard a few people complain about prices, but no one I know has readjusted their driving lifestyles to accomodate high prices and, what in reality, adjusted for inflation, are not that much more than they were a few years ago.

The latest jump from 80 to 120 dollars a barrel has been caused by U.S fed policy more than anything else.

A barrel of oil is pegged to the dollar..when the fed starts reinflating and or weakening the dollar by cutting rates to help the housing industry the oil producing countries raise the price of oil to make up for the difference..
