She... Is.... Alive!!!
Finally, after a year and a half I finally got my bike back together today.
I don't know why, but I slipped into a really dark place last summer, spun a crank bearing on the TLR and actually ordered a replacement engine off Ebay, but after pulling the exhaust and radiator... I just couldn't get up the confidence to continue...
... she sat out there and mocked me, every day as I passed the shop, stripped of her fairings and most everything else... a shell of what she once was.
well about a month ago I got a friend to help me drop the old engine and put in the new. I've been slowly getting parts back on her and today... the tank went on, the batt went in, and the key got turned...
... took a bit, cranked for about 20 seconds... let her sit for 10 minutes... went back and she popped, stumbled, and then came to life...
had her out for a jaunt with all the plastics off, just to see if there was anything leaking or lose. It's freaking horrorifying to see smoke rolling out from under the tank, until you realize it's the greasy finger prints you left on the header that are burning off.
just put the last bit of plastic on her, she needs a washing soooooo bad but I'm taking her to work tomorrow... my buddy will be sooo amazed.
ahhhhhh, like a warm blanket on a cold night...
